Collector's Edition

NCS Product Update
The Game.com exclusive Resident Evil 6
Collector's Edition was discounted by UK
distributors today. The bundle was
originally priced at £129 or US$209.82 but
it's currently on sale for £59.99 or
US$97.78. The Playstation 3 version is
already sold out but we're accepting
reservations for the Xbox 360 version
to ship in early January 2013. Due to the
size of the bundle, NCS recommends shipping
by UPS Ground within the United States and
we're supplying the bundles for US$129.90.
If additional supplies of the PS3 version
are made
available, we'll post another update.

Light-Up Saber Chopsticks

NCS Product Update II Kotobukiya's letter to Japanese customers and retailers
regarding the recall may be viewed
here. The document is in Word
format and explains that the recall is due
to a defect in the power supply unit /
battery
in the
chopsticks.The letter goes on to
apologize to customers who have already
purchased the product and lists the contact
details for returning the defective
chopsticks to the company. The letter
doesn't mention when the fixed chopsticks
will be made available but we're guessing
late January 2013.
NCS Product Update (December 18, 2012) According to our Japanese
toy distributor, the recently released Star
Wars Light-Up Saber Chopsticks are being
recalled by Kotobukiya due to a
manufacturing defect. We're waiting for full
details concerning the nature of the defect
but all shipments of this product are being
recalled and any shipments that are already
in transit will have to be sent back due to
what the distributor is describing as
'electrical issues.' We were hoping
to get reservations for the chopsticks
shipped out this week ahead of the Christmas
holiday but this is a pipe dream at this
point. Kotobukiya is allowing shipments to
be returned up until June 2013 for the
recall.
We're speculating that some early users of the chopsticks were
being shocked by an electrical charge as
they lifted saucy ramen noodles from a
steaming bowl to their eager lips but that's
just our wild-eyed speculation. We'll post
additional information tomorrow when we
receive a copy of Kotobukiya's recall letter
to Japanese retailers but all reservations for the
chopsticks will be placed on hold and we'll
process orders when the fixed chopsticks
ship from Kotobukiya.

"Spin is
synchronised
swimming for toy
soldiers.
Aficionados of
plastic
infantrymen will
recognise them
almost
instantly, and
while they've
here been
rendered such
that they can
move their
limbs, some
positional
changes see them
swapped for
another. Here,
they are green
and black, the
living-room
invading menace
of the tan toy
soldiers perhaps
being left for a
sequel. The
sometimes jaunty
music from
Eclectic works
well with Max
Hattler's
visuals, all
creating an
entertaining
spectacle. It's
dark in places,
intentionally
so, and that's
also to the
credit of those
involved.
Perhaps the only
note is that
among the
various GIs and
Wehrmacht are
some soldiers
that appear in
fact to be a
police SWAT team
- what one
suspects is
actually a
battering ram is
treated as if it
were a giant
Roman candle.
That may be an artifact of childhood imagination, however, and
given how many
bricks
substituted for
firearms before
Lego, if you
will, bit the
bullet, it's
totally
forgiveable.
Watching Spin
does in some
ways recall the
pageantry of
fascism, the
Nuhremberg
rallies and
North Korean
stadium
displays, though
again that's an
important
element -
divorced of
ideology such
efforts still
glorify
something, and
the very notion
of a toy soldier
raises all sorts
of questions.
Spin doesn't
attempt to
answer any of
them, nor should
it - sometimes
the mere act of
asking questions
is enough, and
Spin manages
that amply." Eye
